US Treasury Evaluates Commemorative $1 Trump Coin With ‘Fight, Fight, Fight’ Inscription
Celebrating the quarter-millennial of the United States' independence, the Treasury is contemplating the minting of a $1 coin depicting Donald Trump with a tightened fist under an Stars and Stripes and the phrase “fight, fight, fight”.
Historical Reference
These words directly references what Trump shouted immediately after narrowly surviving an assassination effort a few months before he gained a second term.
Government Revelation
US Treasurer Brandon Beach publicly revealed a draft design of the coin on Friday via X, saying: “Absolutely real. These designs marking America’s 250th birthday and [Trump] are legitimate.”
The post – which highlighted another user commenting on the draft design – mentioned that Beach looked “forward to sharing more” after the resolution of the government funding lapse that commenced after Wednesday night when Senate Democrats demanding concessions on medical care and other budgetary issues refused to provide the support necessary to pass a Republican-backed spending legislation.
Authorization History
As noted, in 2020, at the end of his first presidency, Trump enacted cross-party law empowering the Treasury chief to release $1 coins during the calendar year 2026 that are “representative of the United States 250th anniversary”.
Design Details
The front of the coin on whose concept Beach remarked recently displayed Trump’s likeness alongside “Freedom”, “Our Trust in God”, and “1776–2026”.
The other side referenced the assassination attempt at a public gathering in PA last year, when law enforcement said a shooter injured Trump’s hearing and wounded two others before being fatally shot by the federal protective detail.
Trump raised his fist after the shooting – one of two assassination attempts for him as he won election for a second presidential term in 2024 – and yelled, “Fight! Fight! Fight!” with an US flag visible nearby.
Clarification
A response from a treasury department spokesperson indicated that the proposal which Beach’s social media post discussed was not the “final $1 coin design”. But the statement maintained that “this concept effectively captures the persistent ethos of our nation and republic, even in the wake of significant challenges”.
Political Environment
Trump’s public support on average has dropped to unfavorable numbers, as his current term has slashed healthcare protections and dietary support that helps the poor, while also imposing tariffs that led to a documented increase in cost of living.
Additionally, the government has also sent US military troops into the urban centers of several metropolitan areas, eliminated roughly $500 million in financing for inoculations such as the ones that played a role in stopping the Covid pandemic, and faced challenges to contain a scandal over his former association with deceased sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein.
