Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Increase Tension on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered keeper Vicario were informed later "they cannot be true Spurs supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Spurs conceded two goals in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth top-flight home loss of 2025.

However the primary talking point was Fulham's next score when the keeper gave away the ball well beyond his box.

The goalkeeper ventured out to handle a high pass and carried the ball near the touchline.

However, rather than kicking it out of play, the Italy international turned and tried to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the goal from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper once more, a number of Spurs fans booed him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing sessions really irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our supporters reportedly jeered the situation and booed following, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented regarding the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] can't be true Tottenham supporters that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had given Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second-half showing.

Former Premier League keeper Hart stated that the second score was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He's a excellent team player, he is a real leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It's Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Game

Italian national team the keeper is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

He said after the game that he had to take the criticism.

"The second score was a error of mine, I take accountability for it," he commented.

"My aim was to clear the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a bad manner. That made an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He said receiving jeers "is part of football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to focus on our own performance. We are lacking in calmness and poise to overturn results. Today is a bad defeat and it is tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second most distant Premier League score of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally too occurred on Saturday.

The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

10 seconds elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson striking – which was 5 moments after the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was out of the box for ages," he remarked.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the goal line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which gave me a little additional time. Then it was solely about trying to achieve the correct connection and get it towards goal. I felt a good sense, the moment it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Poor Run, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank

Although the keeper's error led coverage, this was an overall bad day for Tottenham to extend their home ground woes.

The match was their tenth at home loss of the year in the league, a joint club record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

They still have home games against the manager's former club the Bees and title holders the Reds to play prior to the end of the season.

Just a single of those wins have occurred since the manager took over from his predecessor in the summer.

"When you're behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," said Frank.

"During in a poor run, all aspects seems to go against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the next is a error from Vic.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional game. Each fixture has a single narrative, today we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The second half was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can use to develop."

Tottenham have lost four consecutive at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

Furthermore they are recording nine point five attempts and three point two shots on target per game in the division – their poorest averages on record in a single campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He must take the criticism," the pundit said. "He's accepted a high profile job at a major football club with massive anticipation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
