President Trump Scraps Plan to Send National Agents to San Francisco Bay Area
Donald Trump has scrapped preparations for a dispatch of government forces to the San Francisco Bay Area that had provoked widespread condemnation from state officials and drawn protesters pouring onto the streets.
Area Concern Over Possible Government Operation
The region had been concerned after reports emerged that the administration was prepared to send over a hundred border control and other federal agents to the government installation in across the Bay, as part of a large-scale immigration enforcement plan.
Leadership Decision Following Discussions
However, the president declared he would not move forward with a “surge” of national agents in the region after conversing with the city leader, the mayor, and tech industry figures including tech executive and Nvidia chief.
“In that conversation, the chief executive informed me explicitly that he was terminating any plans for a government dispatch in San Francisco,” Lurie said in a release.
