No Positive Outcome - Electorate Throughout the US Share Anxieties About the Shutdown
US lawmakers from the two parties are pointing fingers as numerous of federal staff are on furlough and the shutdown drags on with no resolution in view.
The Democratic Party have declined to support the Republican funding bill unless lapsing medical assistance which they argue many employed households rely on are extended.
Republicans want the opposition to approve a temporary measure first and then they can negotiate the support payments.
A Republican Voter, 49, Republican
This Golden State resident is concerned about the extensive effect of the shutdown on everyday citizens.
The Republicans have 53 votes, they require 60 to pass the legislation. Could it be that difficult to come together over seven yeas so that the public are protected?
If this persists for an extended period, the reality is the public are being hurt, US residents are being touched by this and somebody must step up to be the adult in the group.
I think sometimes legislators are so removed from the people, the regular person going about their day, so they overlook what the hardship is like and I believe they need to take that into consideration, particularly if it's a large number of Americans that are unpaid.
That's a lot of citizens not getting paid, that's a significant number of Americans unable to inject their money toward the market. Americans are just being hurt.
A Democratic Voter, Twenty-Two, Democratic Supporter
This Maryland citizen recognises this closure will cause pain to many Americans, but she believes it is a important battle.
I'm anxious because there is no favorable conclusion with the federal government being closed.
I'm highly concerned about what's going to happen to economically disadvantaged groups, students who need government grants and public servants.
But this is a important struggle for the Democrats to pursue. Naturally employment are going to be lost, initiatives are going to go without funding, which is so unfortunate but I do not believe that is responsibility that the the left would have on their record.
I believe it's valuable to persist, this is communicating a strong statement to their voters.
A Democratic Voter, Thirty-Six, Democrat
This Golden State citizen is concerned the Democratic Party lack tactics in their shutdown strategy.
I am unsure if the Democratic leadership has a roadmap for an exit strategy to talks or how to get the group beyond this.
I don't know if the Democratic Party have a strong enough message to the American people on what they're attempting.
In terms of online communication, the GOP clearly have the advantage. The communication is not effective on what the left are trying to do.
I'm currently at a juncture where I'm somewhat nervous because funding lapses don't help anyone.
I'm going to be okay, but for the rest who needs the government, who plans to go visit a federal park or gallery, they're going to be affected, if not immediately, then in the near future.
And that is intolerable.
Jim Sullivan, Mid-Fifties, GOP Supporter
This Hoosier State voter claims the left are acting strategically with regular people and their livelihood.
This is typical partisan behavior. It is a temporary funding they are seeking to approve, that the opposition oppose.
Everyone's referring to it as a Democratic closure, it's not on the Republicans, it's due to Schumer, he's acting to remain relevant within his own party - in the meanwhile, people are in the difficult position.
I do not perceive that this is going to resolve.
The real people are stuck in the crossfire, and the left are willing to sacrifice those people. They're not doing their reputation any benefits when they truly block things like this.
Trey Stewart, 27, Democratic Supporter
This Florida voter claims the Democratic approach is a challenging but essential one and one that impacts his family member, who has been placed on leave because of the closure.
The Democratic strategy is a tough one, but regrettably it is a necessary one.
They have been unable to do very much to slow or block the government's policies.
I endorse their approach, I endorse their justification for doing it.
The administration leader is a aggressor and if you acquiesce to a bully he's going to ask for further compromises, that's how aggressive people work. So you have to stand up to a bully to make him understand you're not going to concede for nothing.
The moment when it becomes too much is when the Democratic Party start losing the public relations war, if the story changes to faulting the left then it might be time to end the standoff.
A Republican Voter, Mid-Sixties, GOP Supporter
This Grand Canyon State resident is unaffected by the closure so he is accepting of the closure persisting, if that is what it requires for Republicans to prevail.
I would believe after the time that the Democrats have had, I would have thought that they would have gone along with the temporary funding, at least for now.
I am all for what the GOP are pursuing, I'm all for reducing government spending.
The Democrats have turned so opposed of the political leader, no matter what he suggests I believe they would find cause to oppose him.
I myself am not experiencing the urgency that other Americans are, this does not affect.
The minimal we need from the government - what it does provide for us - the closure is not going to impact us {whatsoever|at all|in any
