Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted on Thursday, and with a remarkable performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the most decorated winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the esteemed Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with accolades for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's achievements, its gifted actors also received individual awards. Jennifer English won Outstanding Lead Performance for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Performer for his acting as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Best Development Team. In total, Clair Obscur and its developers won 7 awards during the ceremony.
Additional major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Top Self-Published Indie and Premier PC Title. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only 4 awards—Critics' Pick, Rising Star, Hall of Fame, and Streamers’ Choice—judged by reviewers.
