President Donald Trump obtained a regal reception on the start of the week in Japan, the next stop of a five-day Asia trip which he hopes to conclude with an arrangement on a trade war truce with Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Trump, embarking on his lengthiest overseas trip since assuming the presidency in the start of the year, revealed agreements with four Southeast Asian countries during the first stop in Malaysia and is expected to encounter Xi in Seoul on later this week.

President Trump exchanged greetings with officials on the tarmac and offered a several celebratory gestures, before his chopper whisked him off for a scenic night tour of the metropolitan city. Trump has secured a $550-billion investment pledge from Tokyo in exchange for a break from heavy trade duties.
